The American Academy of Dance in Paris is a signature project which has received significant support from the Annenberg Foundation as directed by Gregory Annenberg Weingarten, a Foundation Vice President and Director. This important cultural organization in France is aligned with Gregory’s passion as an artist with a deep appreciation for the visual and performing arts, education, and global well-being. Since Gregory's involvement with the Academy, the school has staged performances in renowned Paris theaters to expand its exposure. Community interaction has increased with community centers, libraries and churches. The school has established a residency program for children with Down’s syndrome. The staff has collaborated with the Ministry to Promote Equal Rights to introduce underprivileged children to dance through after-school activities.
This school for children ages 4 – Adult, teaches classes in a variety of dance styles, including Classical Ballet, Creative Movement, Flamenco, Jazz, Modern, Character, and classes for children with special needs.
Grant funds have sponsored the renovation of a new facility to house L'Académie Américaine de Danse à Paris (The American Academy of Dance in Paris), which is triple the size of their previous location.
Funding from the Foundation also assists the school with operational support, including administrative and artistic salaries, the creation of educational materials, and student accommodations, as well as the Development Campaign and other fundraising efforts.
